WHALE researchers are hoping a humpback whale calf born off Cape Woolamai, Phillip Island will be able to reach warmer waters. It is the youngest ever humpback spotted in Victorian waters and only the third calf recorded. Somerville Highway Patrol officers nabbed a driver speeding at more than 75km over the speed limit in Frankston last night (1 August). Police clocked the Ford Territory allegedly travelling at 175kmp/h in a 100km zone on the Peninsula Link near the intersection of Frankston-Dandenong Road just after 8.30pm. The vehicle exited Peninsula Link on Thames Promenade and police located the vehicle on the side of the road with what appeared to be a blown engine.
