JOBS and careers of all sorts were the focus of last week’s Frankston Mornington Peninsula Careers and Jobs Expo at Mornington Racecourse.

The event was designed to help the students and school leavers make informed decisions on their futures. It showed them what jobs were on offer, what skills and abilities were required, and how they should go about getting into them.

Expert information and advice is regarded as the most important thing when planning young peoples’ careers – or a career changes. The event’s focus on interactivity saw many hands-on activities offered, including a tyre change pit-stop challenge, fitness tutorials, barista workshop, brick laying, building and plumbing. Hands-on demonstrations and ‘Try a trade’ stalls were put on by some of the 80 exhibitors.

Experts from Chisholm Tafe, Monash and Deakin universities, Peninsula Health, Australian Institute of Personal Training, and Department of Health and Human Services were represented.

This was the first year Mornington Peninsula Shire and Frankston City Council have co presented a joint careers expo.
