This is a Watch and Act message issued by Country Fire Authority for Somerville.
The fire that was burning along Frankston Flinders Road near Raymond Street, northwest of Somerville is currently being contained.
This bushfire is currently not yet under control.
A southerly wind change is expected around 4:30pm which will cause smoke and ash to fall in the area around Grant Road and Speedwell Streets, Somerville
Don’t wait, leaving now is the safest option – conditions may change and get worse very quickly. Emergency Services may not be able to help you if you decide to stay.
Travel to;
– The Relief Centre at Somerville Recreation Centre, Edwards Street, Somerville from 4:30pm today.
– The home of family or friends that is away from the warning area.
When driving, slow down and turn on your headlights; smoke will make it difficult to see.
Road closures are in place at:
Frankston Flinders Road Between Coolart Road & Eramosa Road,
Peninsula link Off Ramp to Frankston Flinders Road
Grant Road between Baxter Tooradin Road and Simcock Street
Simcock Street & Scott Grove
Gomms Road & Eramosa Road
