Mornington Peninsula Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating following a carjacking in Rosebud overnight.
It is believed two males were travelling along Waterfall Gully Road in a red Holden sedan about 12.15am.
Police have been told a burgundy/red older model 4WD tried to run the victim’s vehicle off the road before colliding with their vehicle.
A short time later the Holden veered off the road and the two male victims, aged 17 and 18, fled on foot.
They were chased away from their vehicle by 3-4 offenders, who stole the car.
The car contained the victim’s phones and numerous power tools.
The Holden was located a short time later burnt out on Trumans Road.
Police are investigating whether the incident is linked to a robbery in a car park on Hove Road.
It is understood a 27-year-old woman and a 19-year-old man were sitting in a parked vehicle when they were approached by male offenders about 1am.
The offenders stole a wallet and phone before fleeing the scene in what is described as a vehicle similar to the one involved in the first incident.
One of the men involved is perceived to be of Caucasian appearance with a medium build and was wearing a dark-coloured hooded jumper over his head.
No other descriptions are available at this time.
No one was injured during the incidents.
The investigation is ongoing.
