EIGHT fire trucks and 20 firefighters fought a fire at a house under construction in Mt Martha, 1.30pm, Thursday 31 May. The two- storey timber house in Park Road was well alight when crews from Mt Martha, Mornington, Dromana, Moorooduc and Bayswater brigades arrived. It took firefighters half an hour to bring the fire under control but some remained on the scene until about 6pm to ensure spot fires did not flare up again.

Mornington Senior Station Officer Simon Mildren said the fire extended from ground level up into the roof. He said the cause was being investigated.
