Somerville Highway Patrol officers nabbed a driver speeding at more than 75km over the speed limit in Frankston last night (1 August).

Police clocked the Ford Territory allegedly travelling at 175kmp/h in a 100km zone on the Peninsula Link near the intersection of Frankston-Dandenong Road just after 8.30pm.

The vehicle exited Peninsula Link on Thames Promenade and police located the vehicle on the side of the road with what appeared to be a blown engine.

The driver, a 39-year-old Carrum Downs man has been charged with reckless conduct endangering life, reckless conduct endangering serious injury, manner dangerous, speed dangerous and other speed and traffic related offences.

His passengers, a 40-year-old Frankston North man along with two teenage boys, aged 17 and 16 were uninjured.

He also tested positive for methamphetamine and has been bailed to appear at Frankston Magistrates’ court on 19 November.

His vehicle was immediately impounded for 30 days at a cost of $1006.10.
