MORNINGTON Peninsula artist Brodie Alserda had a successful inaugural art exhibition at Lotus Chiropractic, Mount Eliza.
Not only did she sell 70 works but was also given a $5000 art grant from Frankston Council.
Now in the planning stages, Alserda’s exhibition will be at Cube 37, Frankston Art Gallery, “sometime in 2022”.
The grant will cover the cost of the hire of the space, preparing digital files, printing and framing.
Alserda, 27, is unique in that no one else in the world has presented with the same genetic sequence. (“Unique view on art and life” The News 26/7/21).
She was born with a chromosome deletion disorder which was not diagnosed until she was 19. Genetic screening identified the abnormalities.
“We will use some of Brodie’s existing artwork, along with new pieces which she has created, plus she has more in the development phase,” her uncle Ken McBride said.
“As you can appreciate, this is a wonderful confidence booster for Brodie and she is very pleased to be getting this recognition of her talent.”
