MOST children love to draw, but few eight-year-olds ever get enough recognition of their talents to draw an audience or begin a potential career from it.

But an art exhibition with a difference is now being held at the Artisan’s Alley in Main Street, Mornington until the end of March, featuring the works of eight-year-old Stella Mars (pictured).

Stella, according to mum Steph Mars, has been dedicated to fine tuning her craft ever since she was two.

But it’s not just family who have recognised her aptitude and ability to create eye-catching canvases. With Stella having sold several of her colourful pieces through word of mouth and her Instagram page, as well as through commissions.

Ms Mars said Stella had always been a “creative soul”, fascinated by colours and textures.

“She started from the age of two painting just for fun and her love for creating canvas pieces has grown so much that she is hoping to do this as her profession,” she said. “Any spare hour the young artist has at home she spends painting and exploring new techniques.”

For Stella, it’s still all about fun.

“The art mess in the studio is so much fun. I love playing with new paint colours and tools to create my pieces of art and sometimes I use my hands too,” she said.

“I hope that people will love my art as much as I do. I work really hard on each piece and try my best to create artwork that has meaning.”
