SOMERVILLE Highway Patrol were left shaking their heads on March 18 when they intercepted an18-year-old driver in the Hastings area allegedly travelling at 138 kmh in an 80kmh zone.

The teenager was detected on Frankston Flinders Road about 7.20pm, when he was stopped by police.

Police said the driver, who gave no reason for travelling 58km/h over the speed limit, had his vehicle impounded for 30 days at a cost of $895.

He is expected to be charged on summons at a later date for traffic offences.
