Emergency services are currently on scene after a car crashed and burst into flames in McCrae this afternoon.
Police have been told a sedan was travelling south along the Mornington Peninsula Freeway near Lonsdale Street about 5.15pm.
It is believed the vehicle left the road and crashed into a tree before bursting into flames.
The male driver and sole occupant of the vehicle died at the scene.
He is yet to be formally identified.
