Police have arrested a man following a robbery and an assault in Hastings earlier this morning.

The incident took place on High Street just after 2am on Saturday 30 June.

The victim, a 40-year-old Hastings man, told police that he was on his daughter’s scooter when he saw another man walking towards him.

As the man walked past the victim, he allegedly struck the victim to the back of his head knocking him off the scooter.

The man grabbed the scooter and using it as a weapon, allegedly struck the victim on his elbow and foot.

The man then ran off with the scooter leaving the victim lying on the footpath.

The victim walked to the Hastings Police Station and reported the incident.

Police conducted a patrol of the area and arrested a 28-year-old Crib Point man.
