Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal crash which occurred in Somerville this morning.
Officers were patrolling when they came across the single vehicle crash at the intersection of Frankston-Flinders Road and Bungower Road about 2.10am.
Police attempted to revive the female driver, who is believed to be in her 40s, but were unsuccessful.
Investigators believe the driver lost control of the vehicle which ran off the road and crashed into a tree.
