The Mornington Community Garden Open Day on Saturday 18 October 2025 is a free event to showcase the community garden and hopefully inspire the community to grow their own fresh vegetables.

The Mornington Community Garden Open Day runs between 10am to 3pm at 43 Mitchell Road, Mornington next to the Advance College Native Nursery.

The not-for-profit community garden has over 100 veggie plots, fruit trees, sensory & herb gardens, native trees, berries and vines, chickens, bees and frog ponds.

There’s a children’s play area, a potting shed and seedling igloo. Garden members share plants and produce, run occasional workshops, and donate surplus food to the Mornington Community Support Centre to help feed those in need in the community.

The Open Day will have lots of activities for the whole family, including gardening tips, tea and cakes, sausage sizzle, plant stalls, tours of the garden, composting advice, raffles, and kids activities.

There’s a competition for local preschools and early learning centres with the display and voting for the Flowerpot People they made from garden pots. All visitors can vote for their favourite. Visitors can also buy plants, seedlings and garden books.

The Mornington Community Garden is run by volunteers and provides a safe space to grow organic food, learn gardening tips from one another, and share the benefits of growing your own food with the wider community. Come along on 18 October from 10am until 3pm and see for yourself!
