DADS, stepdads, grandfathers and other significant male role models with a child under four are invited to a new free program at Mornington Library called Books, Blokes and Bubs.
The program responds to the growing recognition of the role fathers and male caregivers play in a child’s development, and the need for dedicated spaces where they can build connections and confidence.
Books, Blokes and Bubs offers a relaxed environment where participants can spend time with their children while connecting with other dads and caregivers. Each session includes a free coffee, storytime, and opportunities for shared play and conversation.
The initiative has been developed through a partnership between four teams: Child and Family Health, Libraries, Positive Ageing, and Community Partnerships, Wellbeing and Inclusion.
“Books, Blokes and Bubs provides a welcoming environment where they can feel supported and build confidence in their parenting journey,” said Mornington Peninsula Shire mayor Cr Stephen Batty.
The program also aims to promote early literacy through books and storytelling, while encouraging positive relationships and emotional connections within families.
Sessions will run at Mornington Library on Saturday 1, 8 and 15 August.
