MORNINGTON MP Chris Crewther joined a large contingent of retirement village residents on Bungower Road last Wednesday (15 July) to catch the newly rerouted 784 bus into Mornington for a coffee.
The bus route has been altered to take into account the public transport dependent retirement village resident in the area.
“It was exciting board the new 784 bus service with residents of Beleura Village and Peninsula Grange,” said Crewther.
“Residents and I have been advocating for this service for years, to what were unused bus shoulders.
“They now have a bus service for the first time, along with Mornington Gardens Holiday Village and St Macartans Parish Primary School.
“We went on the bus together from the villages, had a celebratory coffee at Mercetta in Mornington, and then headed back on the bus together.
“We loved the chance to experience the service together, and this will give residents a lot more access to community, healthcare, shopping and more. Well done to all advocates at the villages who fought for this.”
Crewther said his work is not done and has now begun lobbying for a pedestrian crossing in the vicinity, and bus shelters for the new bus stops.
