A Brighton man was forced to watch his new Porsche Macan be driven away on the back of a tow truck after Somerville Highway Patrol (HWP) members caught him drink driving on the way home from his Mornington Peninsula holiday house on Monday evening. A woman has lost her licence after allegedly being caught drink driving in Rye on 1 December. Officers were patrolling Point Nepean Road when they allegedly observed a vehicle travelling 62km/h in a 40km/h zone about 11.45pm. The vehicle was intercepted and the driver underwent a preliminary breath test and returned to the station for an evidentiary test where she returned an alleged reading of 0.165. The 22-year-old woman’s licence was immediately suspended for a period of 12 months and her vehicle was impounded at a cost of $1225. She is expected to be charged on summons with traffic offences.…

Somerville Highway Patrol officers have caught a drink driver following a collision in Hastings last night. Officers were called to the corner of Victoria Street and Spring Street to reports of an Audi Q5 colliding with a parked truck about 8:15pm. The driver of the Audi, a 46-year-old woman, underwent a preliminary breath test which returned a positive result. She accompanied police to a local station and underwent an evidentiary breath test where she returned an alleged reading of 0.263. Somerville Highway Patrol members were left severely disappointed when a driver blew almost five times the legal alcohol limit after colliding with another vehicle in Dromana last night. To make matters worse two children under 10 were passengers in the alleged offending vehicle. Emergency services were called to reports a Mitsubishi Wagon had failed to navigate a turn onto Boundary Road and crashed into an oncoming vehicle about 5.30pm. The driver of the Mitsubishi, a 41-year-old Dromana woman tested positive for alcohol at the scene and subsequently returned an evidentiary breath test reading of 0.234.
