Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal collision which occurred in Tyabb this afternoon.
Investigators have been told a car was travelling along the Frankston-Flinders Road about 2.30pm when the driver lost control of the vehicle.
The car left the road and crashed into a tree.
Emergency services attended the scene but were unable to save the driver of the car, believed to be a man in his 70s.
There are currently traffic diversions in place.
