Armed Crime Squad detectives are investigating reports of an attempted armed robbery and shooting in Tootgarook this morning.

The male victim heard noises coming from the front of his Kareela Drive property and went outside to investigate about 4am on Tuesday, 26 October.

He was confronted by an offender who demanded the victim hand over keys to his vehicle.

The victim refused to comply and returned inside.

A short time later a shot was fired through the front of the house.

Broken glass struck the victim, who was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

The offender fled on foot.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential crime report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
