THE Western Port Community Support Christmas Giving program helped provide relief to many local families this December thanks to the efforts of volunteers and the generosity of the community.

The centre distributed 350 food hampers and toys to over 400 children from the local community on 17 and 18 December at their centre in Hastings.

Demand for community support has risen in recent years, with many families struggling due to the ongoing cost-of-living crisis and rising rental prices.

Western Port Community Service has seen a disturbing rise in the number of families and individuals needing urgent assistance as the largest provider of emergency relief and crisis support in the Western Port region.

Over 30 volunteers dedicated their time to packing and distributing the hampers, an example of community collaboration and Christmas spirit.

The program is made possible thanks to donations and support from local businesses, church groups, community groups, philanthropic groups and individuals.
