OVER the last few months, Mornington Community Support Centre has seen a huge increase in households needing support, particularly with food relief. Our team has been working round the clock to ensure we can keep up with demand.
Ben Smith CEO Mornington Community Support Centre said “We have been the proud recipient of funds from Mt Martha Community Bank to assist our Fresh Food program deliver quality food to local individuals and families. Since July 2025, we’ve rescued over $500,000 in food, going straight into the hands of local households struggling with the cost of living. This food would otherwise be going into landfill”.
“$80,000 in support over the last three years has helped us develop our program beyond our imagination. The support helps us with coordination of several programs which bring together all our partners in the community, a real demonstration of how we can do incredible things with the assistance of core funding.
“We have now established strong partnerships right across the Mornington region, assisting food distribution at other place-based food charities and pantries to ensure no one misses out. It’s here we can make the biggest impact but partnering with others.
“We now offer fresh food relief on Monday nights from 5pm – 7pm at the Centre (320 Main St, Mornington) to assist families and individuals who are working or have care responsibilities and might not be able to get here during the day. This is only possible due to the support from organisations like Mt Martha Community Bank.”
