CRIB Point pool has celebrated a significant milestone, marking 50 years of operation with a vibrant anniversary event.
Opened in 1975, the outdoor pool has long been a central part of life in Crib Point, hosting swimming lessons, carnivals and family fun days, while providing a daily meeting place for locals who begin their mornings with a swim as the sun rises.
A recent golden anniversary celebration saw families, long-time patrons and first-time visitors to the pool to share in the occasion.
Mayor Cr Anthony Marsh said the milestone highlighted the value of shared spaces within the community.
“Crib Point pool has been bringing people together for 50 years, and that sense of connection was on full display at the celebration,” Marsh said.
“It’s a place where generations have learned to swim, spent long summer days, and built lasting memories. Milestones like this remind us why community spaces matter.”
The family fun day featured pool games, live music, children’s activities and a special 50-year birthday cake, with strong attendance throughout the afternoon.
Marsh joined councillors Kate Roper, Stephen Batty and Michael Stephens for the celebrations.
Stephens, whose Warringine Ward covers Crib Point, said the pool remained deeply woven into the fabric of the local community.
“Seeing families here together, some spanning multiple generations, really shows the role the pool plays in community life. Celebrating 50 years is about honouring that history while looking ahead to many more summers to come,” he said.
As part of the anniversary, residents can also expect the release of a Peninsula Tales video later this week on council’s Facebook page, capturing the atmosphere, colour and community spirit of the celebrations, as well as an update on the new pool mural.
The next stage of the mural project is set to launch in mid-February, when the community will be invited to vote for their preferred design, marking the beginning of the next chapter in Crib Point pool’s story.
