MEN’S DIV ONE SEN
THE biggest footy drama of the week occurred not on the field, but in the backrooms at MPFNL HQ after the previous week’s draw between Mt Eliza and Dromana was overturned, and the game awarded to the Redlegs.
The league relied on a video replay and statements from the umpires to verify an extra point had inadvertently been added to Dromana’s total in the second quarter.
After the MPFNL board completed its investigation, clubs were informed on Thursday (6 August) of the revised result.
Rosebud suffered only their second loss of the 2026 season at the hands of Langwarrin on Saturday. Their only previous loss being to the Kangaroos earlier in the season.
The Kangaroos began the game strongly, hopping out to an early lead in the first after putting on 7.6 to Rosebud’s 1.1.
Rosebud won the second quarter but were still far from the lead after scoring 2.3 to Langwarrin’s 1.3. The Kangaroos went into the long break with a 35-point margin.
In the third, the ’Buds scored a further 1.1, while the Kangaroos were able to score 3.2, pushing the lead out to 48-points.
Rosebud mounted a spirited comeback in the final quarter, slamming on 5.5, and keeping Langwarrin to a single major, but it was too little, too late.
In the end, Langwarrin finished on 12.11 (83) to Rosebud’s 9.10 (64), giving Langwarrin the win by 19 points.
Matthew Cumming scored three goals for Rosebud. Matthew Johnson scored three goals for Langwarrin.
Mt Eliza secured a win over Frankston YCW.
Only one goal separated the Redlegs from the Stonecats at the end of the first quarter, with the latter scoring 3.3 and the former 2.3.
Mt Eliza stole the lead in the second after holding Frankston YCW to just six points while scoring 4.4 themselves, leaving Mt Eliza ahead by 16 points at half time.
In the third, Mt Eliza scored a further 3.5 to Frankston YCW’s 3.2.
The Redlegs continued to climb in the final quarter, scoring 2.7 to the Stonecats’ 1.3. The final result was the Redlegs on 11.19 (85) beating the Stonecats who finished on 7.14 (56); a 29 point margin in favour of Mt Eliza.
Joshua Patullo scored three goals for Frankston YCW. Ziggy Toledo scored five goals for Mt Eliza.
Mornington’s home ground advantage did not help them in their clash against Edithvale-Aspendale, leaving the latter to win.
The Eagles flew into the game with a strong start, scoring 5.5 to the Bulldogs’ 1.4.
Mornington won the second quarter after scoring 5.3 to Edi-Asp’s 5.0, leaving Edi-Asp ahead by 22 points at half time.
In the third, the Eagles soared even further into the lead by adding 5.5 to their total while the Bulldogs were only able to add 2.4.
The final quarter saw Edi-Asp score 4.4 to Mornington’s 2.3. This resulted in Edi-Asp taking a 54 point win over Mornington. The final scores were 10.14 (74) to Edi-Asp’s 19.14 (128).
Dromana were able to beat Pines in their clash despite a very close first half.
In the first quarter, the Tigers took the lead by a single goal, scoring 3.4 to the Pythons’ 2.4.
Pines claimed the lead in the quarter before the long break by scoring 3.3 to Dromana’s 1.4, leaving Pines ahead by five points at half time.
Dromana had a very strong third quarter allowing them to start pulling away from Pines. Dromana scored 6.5 to Pines’ 2.0.
In the final quarter, the Tigers were able to claw their way to victory by scoring 3.2 to the Pythons’ 4.2, leaving the Tigers (13.15) to win against the Pythons (11.9) by 18 points.
William Derrington scored five goals for Pines. Ethan Johnstone scored six goals for Dromana.
Sorrento were able to come back in the fourth quarter to claim their fourth win for the season in their clash against Devon Meadows.
In the first quarter, Devon Meadows took the lead by four points after scoring 4.2 to Sorrento’s 3.4.
The Panthers continued to pounce further into the lead in the second by scoring 6.1 to the Sharks’ 5.2, leaving the Panthers ahead by nine points at the long break.
The scores were still very close in the third quarter, with Devon Meadows scoring 2.5 and Sorrento scoring 3.3, leaving only five points between the teams.
The Sharks were able to secure the lead in the final quarter by scoring 5.6 to the Panthers’ 3.2, leaving the Sharks to beat the Panthers.
The final tally was 16.15 (111) to 15.10 (100) with Sorrento taking the chocolates with an 11 point margin.
MEN’S DIV TWO SEN
CHELSEA remains on top of the ladder after their win against Crib Point.
The scores were close in the first quarter, with Chelsea scoring 3.5 and Crib Point scoring 3.3.
In the second, Chelsea started to pull away after keeping Crib Point scoreless while adding 5.2 themselves.
The Magpies won the third quarter but were not able to take the lead, after scoring 3.5 to the Seagull’s 3.1.
In the final quarter, Chelsea scored a further 5.2 to Crib Point’s 3.1, leaving Chelsea (16.10) to beat Crib Point (9.9) by 43 points.
Brett O’Hanlon scored five goals for Chelsea. Daniel Farmer scored four goals for Crib Point.
After a neck and neck first half, Red Hill were able to come out of their game against Bonbeach with a victory.
In the first quarter the scores were tied, with both teams scoring 1.2.
Bonbeach were just able to take the lead in the second quarter after scoring 2.4 to Red Hill’s 2.2, leaving Bonbeach ahead by two points going into the long break.
Red Hill started to fall into an easier lead in the third quarter after scoring 4.1 to Bonbeach’s 1.3.
In the final quarter, Red Hill scored two goals while Bonbeach were able to score 3.3, leaving Red Hill to win by five points. The final scores were 9.5 (59) to 7.12 (54).
Frankston Bombers were able to take an easy win against Hastings.
In the first quarter, the Bombers flew into the lead after scoring 6.2 to Hastings’ 1.2.
The Bombers continued to climb in the second quarter, after scoring 3.3 to Hastings’ 2.4, leaving the Bombers ahead by 35 points at the long break.
In the third, the Blues only managed to add a further 1.2 while the Bombers scored 5.3 to pull further away.
In the final quarter, the Bombers scored 6.5 to Hastings’ 2.0, leaving the Bombers, 20.13 (133), to best Hastings, 6.8 (44), by 89 points.
Jai Block scored an impressive eight goals for the Bombers. Lachlan Wallace scored two goals for Hastings.
Despite a rough start to the game, Seaford were able to come back and secure a win against Karingal.
In the first quarter, Karingal took an early lead by scoring 4.3 to Seaford’s 1.1.
Karingal’s lead continued into the second quarter as they scored 2.0 to Seaford’s 3.2, leaving Karingal ahead by 12 points at half time.
In the third quarter, Seaford started to catch up to Karingal but the latter still maintained the lead by scoring 4.3 to Seaford’s 4.5.
In the final quarter, Seaford put it into top gear and dominated the game, keeping Karingal scoreless for the quarter while scoring 7.10 themselves. This led to Seaford securing the win by 42 points.
The final scores were 15.18 (108) for Seaford to 10.6 (66) for Karingal.
Pearcedale were able to secure a win against Tyabb.
Tyabb started out the game on top, scoring 2.1 to Pearcedale’s 1.3.
Pearcedale went into the long break leading the game by seven points after scoring 3.0 to Tyabb’s 1.1 in the second quarter.
In the third quarter, Pearcedale continued to climb, scoring 3.3 to Tyabb’s 1.0.
Pearcedale dominated the final quarter scoring 5.2 to Tyabb’s 1.1. This resulted in Pearcedale, 12.8 (80), securing a 47 point win over Tyabb, 5.3 (33).
Somerville used their home ground advantage well, and were able to come out of their game against Rye with a win.
In the first quarter, Somerville dominated the game, scoring 6.7 to Rye’s 1.6.
Rye held Somerville to one point in the second quarter but were only able to score 1.3 themselves, leaving Somerville in the lead by 23 points at half time.
The Eagles continued to climb into the lead in the third quarter by scoring 6.5 to Rye’s 0.5.
In the final quarter, the Demons were able to score 3.2 but it was no match for Somerville, who scored 3.4.
In the end, Somerville secured a 61-point win, the final scores being 15.17 (107) to Rye’s 5.16 (46).
Second on the ladder Somerville are set to face ladder leaders Chelsea in the final round of the regular season next week in what could be a grand final preview.
WOMEN’S DIV ONE SEN

MORNINGTON are off to the “Big Dance” again, after beating Karingal in their preliminary final on Saturday.
Mornington’s only issue on the day was accuracy in front of the big sticks, slotting 11 minors in their score of 35 points.
Karingal couldn’t match the Bulldogs’ intensity, with the final scores being 4.11 (35) to 3.3 (21) in Mornington’s favour.
The Bulldogs will now face Warragul Industrials in the grand final.
It is the third time in three years the two teams have met in the final game of the season with Mornington taking the win in 2025, and Warragul in 2024.
The super-charged Industrials have not had a loss all year.
On Warragul’s mind, though, will be the close call in the team’s semi-final two weeks ago, when Mornington fell just a single point short.
The MPFNL Division One Women’s grand final kicks off at 3pm on Saturday 15 August at Kinetic Stadium.
