MEN’S DIV ONE SEN
DROMANA managed to best Langwarrin in their clash in the first round of finals.
The Tigers entered the game strongly, scoring 6.2 in the first quarter while the Kangaroos only managed to score 2.2, placing the Tigers in the lead by 24 points.
Dromana extended their lead in the second quarter after scoring a further 3.5 to Langwarrin’s 1.1, giving Dromana a 40-point lead in the half time break.
The Kangaroos attempted to catch up to the Tigers in the third quarter, scoring 5.4 to the Tigers’ 1.4, and shortening the Tigers’ lead to 16 points.
In the final quarter, the Tigers managed to claw their way to victory after scoring five goals and holding the Kangaroos to two majors.
When the final siren sounded Dromana, 15.16 (106), had the better of Langwarrin, 10.9 (69), by 37 points.
Dromana will now come up against Rosebud next Saturday in a semi-final, while Langwarrin will play Mt Eliza after their win on Sunday in a very close contest against Frankston YCW.
In the first quarter, Mt Eliza took the lead after scoring 2.2 to Frankston YCW’s 1.4 and held a lead of just four points at the first break.
The Stonecats stole the lead from the Redlegs in the second by scoring 3.2 to the Redlegs’ 1.3, leaving the Stonecats up by seven points at half time.
Frankston YCW maintained their lead in the third quarter with both teams scoring four majors each.
In the final quarter, the Redlegs were able to sneak 3.1 while the Stonecats were only able to score 1.1.
This resulted in Mt Eliza, 10.7 (67), beating Frankston YCW, 9.11 (65) by two points.
The loss for the Stonecats spells the end of their 2026 campaign.
MEN’S DIV TWO SEN
CHELSEA claimed their grand final berth on Saturday with their win over Red Hill.
The game started off with fairly even scores from both teams, with Red Hill taking the lead into the first break after scoring 3.3 to Chelsea’s 3.0.
Chelsea claimed the lead in the second quarter by scoring 4.2 while Red Hill only managed to score 3.0, which left Chelsea ahead by five points going into the long break.
In the third quarter, Chelsea managed to maintain their lead by scoring a further 5.1, while Red Hill was only able to score 3.6.
In final quarter of the match, Chelsea scored 4.3 while Red Hill scored 2.0.
The final resulted was Chelsea, 16.6 (102), beating Red Hill, 11.9 (75), by 27 points.
All is not lost for Red Hill as they get another chance next week against Frankston Bombers after they dispatched Somerville on Sunday.
Frankston Bombers went into the clash as underdogs, having finished fifth on the ladder in the regular season, compared to Somerville’s second spot.
The Bombers immediately flew into the lead in the first quarter after scoring 6.3 to Somerville’s 2.3, placing the Bombers ahead by 24 points at the first break.
Though the margin reduced in the second quarter, the Bombers were able to go into the long break ahead by 20 points after scoring 3.3 to Somerville’s 3.7.
In the third, the Bombers scored a further 5.5 while Somerville struggled to score, only managing a single major.
The Bombers were able to secure their win in the final quarter after scoring five straight goals to Somerville’s 2.5, locking in an easy 60-point victory.
The final scores were 19.11 (126) to 8.17 (65).
Somerville are now out of the final series, after an impressive seasons that saw them end up second on the table with 14 wins and just four losses in the regular season.
