A DESPERATE community-wide search is underway for a missing foster dog named Alejandro, a red stumpy-tailed cattle dog who last seen in Mt Martha on 29 June.
Known for his timid but friendly nature, the much-loved dog fled in fear when his carers tried to change his lead, and ran towards Nepean Hwy, next to the Mt Martha leash-free community forest.
The three-year-old (pictured), affectionally called Alex, is a foster dog with the Mornington Peninsula Dog Rescue Incorporated and was wearing a green collar and a blue-green harness.
Anyone who sees Alex are advised to avoid calling out or approaching him as this may cause him to flee. Instead, they are to stay calm and gently try to coax him in with food or treats.
Rescue members have also put his crate and food out near entrance at Mt Martha leash-free community forest in the hope he may return. He is fully vetted and microchipped to the rescue.
Anyone who sights or finds Alex is urged to contact Jess 0409 633 011 or Laura 0499 983 334
