CRIB Point Pool is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a colourful new mural and the community is being invited to help shape it.
For generations, the pool has been a hub of summer fun, swimming lessons, and cherished memories. To mark this milestone, the Mornington Peninsula Shire is giving the facility a refreshed look with vibrant artwork on the building’s front and back walls.
Residents are encouraged to share what they feel best represents Crib Point.
Do you want the mural to reflect the town’s history, the pool’s long-standing role in the community, the surrounding coastline and bushland, or the local spirit that makes summers special?
Residents can choose up to three themes or propose their own ideas, which will help guide artists as they develop potential mural designs.
“We want the artwork to tell the stories that matter to local people,” the shire said.
This first stage focuses on gathering inspiration from the community. After themes are selected, artists will be invited to submit ideas through an expression of interest process. Once concepts are shortlisted, the community will have the chance to vote on the final design.
Mayor Cr Anthony Marsh said, “Celebrating 50 years of Crib Point Pool is a wonderful milestone for the town and the Mornington Peninsula as a whole. It’s fantastic to see locals shaping the next chapter of this much-loved community space and supporting local artists at the same time”.
Community consultation is open now and closes on 5 December. Residents can have their say and learn more at shape.mornpen.vic.gov.au/crib-point-pool-mural-art-project.
