MEMBERS of the six Country Women’s Association of Victoria (CWA) branches on the Mornington Peninsula are crafting and cooking up a storm in preparation for their annual Creative Arts Exhibition on Saturday 18 April, to be held in Mornington.

CWA Mornington Peninsula Group president, Louise Jager said it’s exciting to see the expertise the CWA is renowned for on display.

“We saw a lot of blue ribbons and best in shows from our members last month at the Red Hill Show, so I’m excited to see what they deliver in our CWA exhibition,” she said.

“I love seeing our newer members having a go, and our more experienced members cheering them on and volunteering advice for future competitions or passing on a new skill.”

While members compete for awards across photography, cooking and handicrafts, floral art and gardening, the event is about so much more than the trophies.

“I’d be lying if I said there wasn’t a little healthy competition among the branches and the ladies,” said Jager. “While we compete on an individual and branch level, the exhibition is more about keeping these skills alive, showcasing the amazing work of our members and of course, encouraging new membership.”

The CWA Mornington Peninsula’s 52nd Annual Creative Arts Exhibition will be a great day to browse the fabulous work of members and sample the famous CWA scones and other light refreshments. There will also be a raffle, CWA merchandise and stalls.

Jager told The News the annual exhibition is a great opportunity to have a chat with members, especially if you’ve ever considered joining the CWA.

“Come down and say hello. Our branches are very welcoming of new members, with day and night branches on offer. We look forward to seeing you at the exhibition.”

The exhibition will be held at Peninsula Community Theatre, Wilsons Road, Mornington from 10am until 4pm on Saturday 18 April.
