MAJOR maintenance works are set to begin at Portsea Pier in July after storm damage in mid-2024. The pier will be closed during construction, and a marine exclusion zone will be put in place to ensure people’s safety. The pier is expected to re-open in late 2026, ahead of the summer period. CONCERNS are mounting over the future of the historic Portsea Pier as no immediate action was being taken to repair a damaged section of the 144-year-old structure.
