MORNINGTON sailing athlete Sophie Jackson is set to compete in the World Championships in Japan this August as she works towards Olympic qualification. Jackson began her sailing journey at six years old thanks to her father and grandfather’s long-term involvement with Mornington Yacht Club. The Mornington Yacht Club sailing season is well underway with racing on Tuesday afternoons, Thursday Twilight, Saturday Championships and Aggregate races as well as Off The Beach racing on a Sunday.Last Thursday’s Twilight race #4 was difficult with no breeze at the start and a stiff easterly to finish.
