There were a total of 61 players nominated for the MPNFL Peninsula Division Team of the Year, to be announced at presentation night on Wednesday, September 7 at Mornington Racecourse.

All Peninsula Division coaches were asked to present a team, based on the games and video footage that they had seen in season 2016.

Based on the greatest number of nominations, the team was again selected by Mornington Peninsula News sports journalist Andrew ‘Toe Punt’ Kelly.

The squad for the 2016 Peninsula Division Team of the year was:

Bonbeach: Shane McDonald, Mark Tyrell, Gary Carpenter, Dylan Jones, Matthew Douglas, Beau Bailey.

Chelsea: Grant Trew, Todd Gardiner.

Edithvale: Tim Mannix, Todd Woodbridge, Steve Mannix, Michael Meehan, Brendan Neville.

Frankston YCW: Byron Barry, Lachy Wallace, Scott McLeod, Ash Eames, BJ Credlin, Ryan Santon, Paul Minchington, Anthony Bruhn, Kevin Lylak, Kyle Hutchison, Ryley Hodson.

Karingal: Aaron Paxton, Jake Kelly, Michael Burke, Grant Goodall, Aaron Lees.

Langwarrin: Shane Paterson, Kieren Albanese, Matt Naughton, Nick Hammill, Michael Parker.

Mornington: Warwick Miller, James Cameron, Jai Haddock, Jackson Calder, Michael Gay, Joel Miller,

Pines: Jack Fisher, Luke Potts, Tim Bongetti, Aaron Edwards, Paul Scanlon, Beau Hendry,

Mt Eliza: Darren Booth, Sam Gill, Karl Lombardozzi, Rohan Heasley, Jay Neratzoglou, Sam Gill, Ben Landry, Dan Gormley, Justin Van Unen, Jordan Capkin

Seaford: Matt Herbert, Josh Stokes, Aaron Walton, Kyle Matthews, Johnathan Haidon.


Nepean team of the year announced

THE Nepean team of the Year was announced at presentation night last Wednesday night.

Hastings FC had the most representation with five players selected.

In the league media, Frankston’s Sam Fox won the award from teammate Dale Sutton, while Somerville key defender Scott Simpson finished third.
