A man has been arrested after a police vehicle was rammed while attempting to intercept a car in Capel Sound on Tuesday, 22 February.

Police observed a purple Toyota Landcruiser allegedly driving erratically on Point Nepean Road about 10.55pm.

The Toyota was seen failing to navigate a left turn onto Johnson Street and crashing into a tree.

Police pulled over the vehicle which had continued travelling along Johnson Street.

The Toyota came to a stop before allegedly reversing into the police vehicle, causing damage to both cars.

A 33-year-old Rosebud man was arrested at the scene and has been taken to hospital for observation.

Fortunately, the police members involved were uninjured.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that could assist police with their enquiries is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
