A man has died in hospital following a bike crash in Blairgowrie earlier this month.

It is believed the male cyclist was riding with a group along Point Nepean Road on October 1 when he lost control and fell over the handlebars, about 11am.

The 78-year-old Kooyong man sustained life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to hospital, where he later died.

Police will prepare a report for the Coroner and investigations remain ongoing.
