AUSTRALIAN Defence Force helicopters and personnel will be conducting aviation training around Port Phillip Bay over the next two weeks.
The training will be conducted throughout the day and night, and involves responses to simulated threat scenarios.
A statement from the ADF said “This training is vital to maintain the world class capabilities the Australian Defence Force provides the government in defence of the nation”.
“Members of the public may notice an increase in military helicopter movements and associated noise during this period. They should not be alarmed if they see or hear military helicopters flying low over urban areas.
“No live ammunition will be used during the training.
“The flying activity schedule is subject to change, including short notice cancellation, due to variables such as air traffic control, weather and other aviation considerations.
“Noise disturbances will be minimised where possible and the ADF thanks the public for their patience and cooperation.”
Members of the public can access further information regarding aircraft noise at www.defence.gov.au/aircraftnoise, or by calling 1800 033 200.
