MEN’S DIV ONE SEN

LANGWARRIN remains one of just two undefeated sides in MPFNL Men’s Division One Seniors, after dispatching the previously undefeated Mt Eliza on Saturday.

The Redlegs were the ones to get off to a strong start, playing at Emil Madsen Reserve, slotting 2.1 to just three minor scores in the first quarter to go into that break with a 10-point lead.

The Kangaroos improved their accuracy in the second quarter and managed a couple of goals, while holding Mt Eliza to a single major for the quarter. They went into the long break trailing by a straight kick.

Langwarrin came out punching in the third quarter putting on a few to equalise in the 28th minute and to push ahead of Mt Eliza in the dying minutes of the quarter. They went into three-quarter time with a five-point lead.

The Kangas slotted a couple of early goals in the final quarter, and kept the pressure on to pull further away from Mt Eliza. At the final siren, Langwarrin were 10.12 to Mt Eliza’s 7.8, giving the visitors a 22-point win.

Will White, Alfie Lambert, Jackson Tanner, Braden Nelmes, and Max Mourney were the best players for Mt Eliza with Jasper O’Neill their highest goal kicker with two. For Langwarrin, the best players were Jordan Bertrand, Riley Staggard, Charlie Orchard, Max Poulios, Nick Buykx, with four of their players kicking two goals apiece.

Rosebud is the other undefeated team this season, after thumping Devon Meadows on Saturday.

The result was never in doubt with Rosebud taking a 38-point lead into the first break, after piling on 6.8 to a solitary goal for the Panthers.

The home team continued the onslaught in the second quarter, limiting Devon Meadows to a single point, while slotting another four goals. The margin at half time had blown out to 62 points.

More of the same was to come in the third quarter with Devon Meadows again unable to find the big sticks, while Rosebud scored another eight goals pushing the lead at three-quarter time to 109 points.

Rosebud took the foot off the accelerator in the fourth quarter, allowing Devon Meadows to score a few goals to bring the final margin back to 88 points.

The Panthers’ captain, Joel Hillis, was responsible for six of his team’s eight goals, while Blake Kuipers kicked six for Rosebud.

Sorrento remain winless for 2026 after going down to Dromana.

But it wasn’t a hopeless affair for the Sharks, and with a bit of luck they may have even grabbed the win.

Both teams managed strong scoring in the first quarter, with Dromana’s inaccuracy in front of goal limiting them to just a 14-point lead at the first break.

Sorrento managed to slot a couple in the second and limit the Tigers to a single major, going into the break just seven points behind.

The Sharks had a much better third quarter, hitting the lead towards the end, and going into the final break with a three-point lead over Dromana.

Dromana scored an early goal in the fourth, and despite putting their noses in front briefly one more time, Sorrento couldn’t hold on, eventually going down by 17 points.

Ethan Johnstone managed three majors for Dromana and James Hallahan scored four for Sorrento.

Mornington’s horror season continues, still not notching a win. They came out firing in the first quarter on Saturday against Frankston YCW and went into the first break with a 14-point lead after slotting four majors.

The Stonecats scored five goals in the second, while holding the Bulldogs goalless, to go into the main break with an 18-point lead.

Mornington fought back in the third to again grab a slim lead and take it into three-quarter time.

The home side came out with a win on their mind in the final quarter a win they got. They snatched the lead away from Mornington and pulled away for a 13-point win. The final scores were 15.11 for Frankston YCW to Mornington’s 13.10.

Lane Meyer, Jaxson Mead, Harry Lloyd, Luke Paynter, and Joshua Patullo were the best for the Stonecats and Nathan Heath, Brenton Credlin, Matt Caine, Fynn Barber, and Ned Moodie were the best for Mornington.

Pines are the only other team that remain without a win for 2026 after being beaten by Edithvale-Aspendale at Regents Park.

The Eagles came out meaning business in the first quarter, slotting 3.7 to just 1.1 for Pines, taking an 18-point lead into the first break.

Pines did better in the second, scoring three majors, but Edi-Asp did the same with the lead unchanged at the main break.

The home side put the visitors to the sword in the third, putting on seven goals while holding Pine goalless, to go into the final break with a 58-point lead.

Edi-Asp slowed their momentum in the final quarter, allowing Pines to win back some pride with a few majors, reducing the final margin to 42-points in favour of the Eagles.

Nathan Wright scored six goals for the Eagles, in a standout performance.
