RUGBY LEAGUE
On Saturday afternoon (30 May) the Peninsula Dolphins senior third grade men’s team were handed their first defeat of the season at the hands of the Doveton Steelers at Betula Reserve, Doveton.
It was a low scoring match: 18-10 at full-time.
Courageous defence kept the Dolphins in the game, however the amount of handling errors in attack saw them unable to apply pressure during crucial points of the game.
After several seniors took part in training the Dolphins junior squad during the week they left with one more lesson on Saturday with six words: “Next Game, Next battle, Train hard”.
In other Dolphins news, the over 16s women’s tag team were on the end of another big loss on Sunday 31/5.
The women’s tag team travelled to Seabrook reserve Broadmeadows to take on the Northern Thunder.
With good preparation they didn’t get the results they wanted.
The game finished 56-0 showing there is a lot of work to do to compete with the top teams.
They are a new squad and the inaugural women’s rugby league tag team for the Peninsula Dolphins that are still working on their combinations.
Despite the loss they are doing the Peninsula Dolphins rugby league club proud with their training and commitment.
With the positive attitude they carry and a bye next weekend they will have some extra time before they have to play, giving them a chance to work on their systems and get some wins.
