PENINSULA Business Network (PBN) will hold a speed networking evening at Safety Beach Sailing Club on 12 August, with proceeds supporting Fusion Mornington Peninsula’s work with young people and young families experiencing homelessness.
The event runs from 5pm to 7.30pm as part of the Mornington Peninsula Small Business Festival and will bring together local business owners for timed, structured introductions alongside canapés and group networking.
PBN will donate $10 from every ticket sold to Fusion, and will top up the total to $1,500 on the night.
Fusion Mornington Peninsula runs the only youth accommodation service on the peninsula, supporting young people aged 15 to 21 who are at risk of or experiencing homelessness, as well as young families under 25.
PBN president, Gina Kasmas, said the network exists to bring business owners together.
“Peninsula Business Network is all about connecting people, connecting business, and creating community.
“We’re warm, welcoming, and collaborative.”
Kasmas said PBN runs entirely on membership and sponsorship income.
“We’ve been around since 2007 and are funded only by our member fees and sponsorship to keep our business network going.
“We’re a not-for-profit, we hold monthly events for networking each month, and we channel funds each year – several thousand dollars – to charity partners who support people experiencing homelessness.”
She said the group’s support for local charities was central to its purpose.
“We believe that by supporting local businesses and local charities, we create a stronger peninsula community.”
