A SERIES of fires on the Mornington Peninsula had brigades on full alert over the weekend. Dromana CFA Captain Tim Desmond said crews were called out six times on Sunday 3 February – three times to tackle a “suspicious” grass and scrub fire at the foot of Arthurs Seat, Dromana, that had been set alight the previous day. BALNARRING residents opposed to the building of an aged care home in their street “will most definitely” fight the bid when it goes before the Victorian Civil Administrative Tribunal. The planning application by developer Arcare will be determined by VCAT because Mornington Peninsula Shire was unable to process it within the required 60 days.
