MEN’S DIV ONE SEN
DIVISION One Mens Seniors had five games take place on Saturday (16 May) for their sixth round of the season.
Frankston YCW had their first loss of the season at the hands of Rosebud.
Rosebud started the game very strongly, scoring 5.2 to Frankston YCW’s 1.1.
The second quarter saw Rosebud creating a larger divide between the teams, scoring three goals.
In the third quarter, Rosebud scored five goals while Frankston YCW was only able to score one.
The Stonecats scored 2.3 in the final quarter to Rosebud’s 6.1, allowing Rosebud to win by 86 points and take their first place spot on the ladder.
Langwarrin was able to beat Devon Meadows in their clash.
Langwarrin took an early lead in the first quarter by scoring eight goals to Devon Meadows’ one.
In quarter two, Devon Meadows scored two goals while Langwarrin was only able to score a single point, leaving a 28 point gap between the teams.
Langwarrin picked up their game again in quarter three, scoring 6.3 to Devon Meadows’ 1.2.
After an outstanding performance in the final quarter, Langwarrin was able to score a further nine goals and beat Devon Meadows by 99 points.
Matthew Johnson was among Langwarrin’s best, scoring six goals.
Dromana was able to secure a win against Pines.
In the first quarter, Dromana was able to score four goals to Pines’ one.
Dromana scored a further five goals in the second quarter to Pines’ two, leaving the teams with a 41 point difference going into the long break.
In quarter three, Dromana scored six goals while Pines only kicked three.
Pines tried to catch up in the final quarter by scoring 5.1 to Dromana’s 1.4, but Dromana still won by 39 points.
Ethan Johnstone was a standout player for Dromana, scoring five goals. Levi Sole and Kai Sommer both played well for Pines, each scoring three goals.
Mornington had their sixth loss of the season after their game against Edi-Asp.
In the first quarter, Edi-Asp scored 6.5 while Mornington only scored 3.1, leaving the teams with a 22 point difference.
The teams were fairly close going into the long break, with only 13 points separating them.
Edi-Asp scored five goals to Mornington’s three goals in the third quarter, leaving Edi-Asp ahead by 20 points.
In the final quarter, Mornington scored five goals to Edi-Asp’s four, but Edi-Asp was still able to win by 16 points.
Kurt Lo Po was among Edi-Asp’s best, scoring four goals. Matt Caine was among Mornington’s best, scoring seven goals.
Mt Eliza was able to claim a win against Sorrento.
An early lead was taken by Mt Eliza after scoring 4.5 in the first quarter to Sorrento’s 2.2.
Sorrento doubled their score in the second quarter, landing them at 28 points while Mt Eliza were on 55.
In quarter three, Sorrento put in a large effort and managed to catch up with Mt Eliza, leaving only a seven point difference between the teams.
Mt Eliza managed to score four goals in the fourth quarter to Sorrento’s two, leaving Mt Eliza to win by 20 points.
Jasper Newstead scored three goals for Sorrento. William Antonie scored four goals for Mt Eliza.
MEN’S DIV TWO SEN
DIVISION Two men’s Seniors completed their sixth round of the season with six games being played.
Chelsea suffered their first loss of the season at the hands of Somerville.
Somerville started strong in the first quarter, scoring 4.5 to Chelsea’s 1.1.
The end of the second quarter saw both teams tied on exactly 42 points.
In the third quarter, Somerville pulled ahead again after scoring three goals to Chelsea’s one and separating the teams by 15 points.
Despite scoring four goals in the final quarter, Chelsea was unable to catch up to Somerville, letting them win by 16 points.
John Simson was among Chelsea’s best, scoring three goals. Lachlan Williams was among Somerville’s best, scoring four goals.
Bonbeach was able to secure a win at their home ground against Karingal.
Bonbeach’s scoring inaccuracy let them down in the first quarter, with Karingal scoring 2.1 to Bonbeach’s 0.7.
Karingal scored four goals in the second quarter while Bonbeach only scored three, leaving Karingal to lead by nine points.
In quarter three, Bonbeach were able to score five goals while Karingal wasn’t able to score a single goal.
Bonbeach was able to score a further 1.1 in the final quarter while Karingal scored 1.7, but it wasn’t enough to stop Bonbeach from winning by 16 points.
Despite having a home ground advantage, Crib Point was not able to beat Pearcedale.
Pearcedale had a strong start, scoring seven goals in the first quarter to Crib Point’s four.
In the second quarter, neither team was able to score.
Crib Point scored three goals in the third quarter to Pearcedale’s seven, leaving Pearcedale ahead by 44 points.
In the final quarter, Crib Point scored 3.3 to Pearcedale’s 2.2, giving Pearcedale the win by 37 points.
Miles Shepherd scored four goals for Crib Point. Luke Daniel scored eight goals for Pearcedale.
Frankston Bombers had their second loss of the season at the hands of Rye.
The Bombers took an early lead, in front by ten points at the first break.
In the second quarter, Rye claimed the lead after scoring 3.7 to the Bombers’ 1.1.
Rye lost their lead to the Bombers in the third quarter after they managed six goals to Rye’s two.
In the end, Rye was able to reclaim the lead and win by six points after scoring 3.3 in the last quarter to the Bombers’ 0.1.
Seaford was able to secure a win against Hastings.
The scores were fairly close in quarter one, with Hastings ahead by one point on 3.2 at the first break.
Seaford pulled ahead in the quarter before the long break, scoring 5.4 to Hastings’ 3.0.
There was only one point in it at the final break, but Hastings was unable to catch up with Seaford as they pulled away in the final quarter, winning by 24 points.
Tyabb didn’t stand a chance in their clash against Red Hill.
Red Hill took a large lead in the first quarter, scoring 10.3 to Tyabb’s 0.1.
A further five goals were scored by Red Hill in the second quarter while Tyabb only managed to score two, separating the teams by 77 points.
Tyabb scored 1.2 in the third quarter while Red Hill scored 5.5, creating a difference of over 100 points between the teams.
In quarter four, Tyabb only managed to put a single point on the scoreboard while Red Hill added an additional 3.5 to their total, allowing them to win by 126 points.
WOMEN’S DIV ONE SEN
TYABB was unable to score against Warragul Industrials.
In the first quarter, the Dusties slamed on 56 points, and then were 81 points up going into the long break.
In the third quarter, they scored a further 5.5.
In the final quarter, Warragul Industrials scored another six goals, making them beat Tyabb by 155 points, who remained scoreless all day.
Michaela Williams scored five goals for Warragul.
Bonbeach was able to get their first win of the season after beating Pearcedale in a close game.
Pearcedale took an early lead on three points at quarter time with Bonbeach managing just a single minor.
In the second quarter, Pearcedale maintained their lead as they scored 12 points to Bonbeach’s two.
Bonbeach caught up in the third quarter, keeping Pearcedale scoreless while scoring 20 points themselves.
In the final quarter, Bonbeach scored seven points, landing them at 30 points total and giving them the win over Pearcedale by five points.
Karingal was able to secure a win against Frankston at Kinetic stadium.
Karingal scored 1.1 in the first quarter, but Frankston was able to double that, scoring 2.2.
Each team scored one goal in the second quarter, leaving Frankston ahead by seven going into the long break.
Frankston was able to score 1.3 in the third quarter compared to Karingal’s 1.2, placing Frankston ahead by eight points.
In the final quarter, Frankston was unable to score at all while Karingal scored three goals, securing Karingal’s win by 11 points.
Mornington were able to best Hastings/Balnarring easily in their clash.
In the first quarter, Mornington scored 3.5 to Hastings/Balnarring’s 1.1.
Hastings/Balnarring was unable to score in the second quarter while Mornington scored a further four goals, leaving the teams separated by 41 points.
Mornington scored a further 5.8 in the third quarter compared to Hastings/Balnarring’s 2.0. In the final quarter, Hastings/Balnarring was able to score two more goals while Mornington scored four, allowing Mornington to win by 81 points.
