A NEW defibrillator has been donated to Mount Eliza residents and installed in the Village Green.
The Ranelagh Club and Bendigo Bank, alongside organisers and sponsors of the Mount Eliza Swim Classic, made the donation possible.
Cr Stephen Batty said every second counts in a cardiac emergency and the first two minutes are crucial.
The defibrillator has been installed in the Village Green as part of a planned effort to have three devices throughout Mt Eliza village.
“We’re so grateful for their support in keeping our community safe,” said Batty.
Bendigo Branch manager Fiona Parsons and her staff came together to meet the president and general manager of the Ranelagh Club, Dan Mestan, to celebrate the new installation.
Ambulance Victoria said in 2024-25, 63% of cardiac arrest patients survived when first shocked by a public automated external defibrillator (AED), compared to seven per cent when there was no CPR or AED use.
There are currently over 8200 publicly accessibly AEDs in Victoria, with the newest in Mt Eliza adding to the tally.
