An elderly man has died in hospital following a collision in McCrae earlier this month. The 91-year-old McCrae man was struck by a turning vehicle in the car park of a Point Nepean Road shopping centre shortly before 9am on 16 March. He was taken to hospital, where he died last night. Police will prepare a report for the coroner. The driver, a 61-year-old Rosebud man, has assisted police with their enquiries. Detectives from the Major Collision Investigation Unit today charged a teenage girl following a fatal crash in Frankston last year. A 19-year-old Safety Beach woman was charged with culpable driving, dangerous driving causing death, drive in a manner dangerous, careless driving, drive whilst impaired by drug, disobey traffic control signal and possess drug of dependence. The charge follows a crash at the intersection of Cranbourne Road and Moorooduc Highway on 13 July, 2017. Police are investigating after their van was rammed by a vehicle in Hastings earlier this morning. Officers attempted to intercept a black Holden Commodore after it failed to obey a stop sign on Hodgins Road about 2.30am. The vehicle pulled over a short distance in front of police on Curacoa Drive, before reversing into the van and fleeing the scene. It then continued travelling along Curacoa Drive. No injuries were sustained by police officers. The car was later located abandoned on Ovens Court and no arrests have yet been made. A teenage girl has died in hospital following a crash in Carrum Downs on Friday. It is believed a car crashed into a stationary truck on Boundary Road just after 7.30am. The 19-year-old Clyde woman, who was a passenger in the car, was taken to hospital in a critical condition however died this morning. The 50-year-old male driver and a second 19-year-old female passenger, both from Clyde, were not injured. The truck driver, a 24-year-old Epping man, was also not injured. Homicide Squad detectives have charged a 41-year-old woman following the death of a child in Tootgarook yesterday (8 March). Police attended an Alma Street address and located the eight-year-old boy’s body shortly after 1.30pm. A 41-year-old woman was arrested at the scene and has been charged with one count of murder. She appeared at an out of sessions court hearing last night and has been remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today (9 March).

North bound lanes of Peninsula Link were closed completely this afternoon after a serious accident. All of the city bound lanes were closed at Golf Links Road after the accident, which occurred near Cranbourne Road. Accounts received by The News have told that a surfboard came loose from a vehicle and fell into following traffic. In the melee that followed, the motorcyclist came off his bike, was pinned underneath, and was very seriously injured. Emergency services stabilised the man before he was airlifted.

UPDATE: Police have located the owner of a kayak who caught something bigger than expected last night. The man was fishing in his kayak off Balnarring on Saturday night when he hooked himself the big one – a shark. The shark, obviously unhappy to be caught, has caused the man to be tipped out of his kayak in its effort to get free. Luckily the man was able to signal to friends, who were fishing in a boat nearby, and rescued him from the water. He’s managed to get the kayak to shore and continued fishing with his mates. When…

Police are appealing for public assistance to help locate Jessica Cantwell. The 23-year-old Mount Martha woman is wanted for failing to appear at court in relation to traffic offences. Cantwell is known to frequent the Langwarrin, Frankston and Mornington Peninsula areas. Investigators have released a photo of Cantwell in the hope that someone may have information on her current whereabouts. She is described as Caucasian in appearance and about 160cm tall with a solid build, green eyes and long brown hair. Police are searching for a number of people following an aggravated burglary in Bittern this morning. It is believed three males attended a premises on Stony Point Road just after 3.30am and accessed a backyard in an attempt to gain entry to a shed. Police have identified the victim whose body was located at a property in Tyabb as 39-year-old Jade Goodwin. Investigators believe that Jade was buried at the vacant rural property on Dandenong-Hastings road on Sunday 22 October. It is believed that he was last seen alive on 13 October. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding an aggravated carjacking in Rye last week. Investigators have been told a man was walking back to his van which was parked on Ozone Street on Monday 9 October about 7.50pm. The 25-year-old was about to get into the vehicle when he was approached by a man who was armed with a knife. The offender then drove off in the victim’s white Toyota Hiace, registration ZAS213. A 51-year-old man has had his Ferrari impounded after he was allegedly caught travelling more than 50km/h over the speed limit in Mornington this afternoon. The red 1987 coupe was clocked at 132km/h in an 80km/h zone on Bentons Road just before 2.30pm. The vehicle was intercepted and it was established that it was unregistered. The Mornington man’s car was impounded immediately and he has a towing cost of $950. He is expected to be charged on summons with high range speeding and driving an unregistered vehicle.

MR R. Clark, engineer on one of the dredges at Naval Base, has the unique distinction of having experienced two motor cycle accidents on two successive days and not sustaining any serious injuries therefrom. On Saturday last, when travelling towards Frankston, at a fair pace, Mr Clark’s machine skidded and he was thrown heavily to the road injuring his left hand and head. A CASE of snakebite occurred at Frankston on Wednesday afternoon, the victim being a school boy named Alexander Nicholson. It appears that he, in company with other lads, was going through some scrub at the back of the school grounds when he felt what at first he thought was a thorn prick him on the knee. Homicide Squad detectives have charged a man following a fatal shooting in Rosebud last weekend. The 30-year-old man was arrested at a house on Ocean Street, Rosebud on Tuesday 5 September. Detectives this evening charged him with one count of murder and three counts of conducting endangering life. The Rosebud man faced an out of sessions hearing this evening and was remanded to Melbourne Magistrates Court tomorrow. The charges follow the fatal shooting of a Mount Waverley man last Sunday 3 September. The 31-year-old was airlifted to hospital but died the following afternoon.
